How bad do you want it?

"I took the road less traveled and that has made all the difference."

Each week we want to help you focus on an area to improve your life and accelerate your growth.

The theme for this week is: How bad do you want it?

If you are sure about something, what steps do you take to ensure you reach the goal? What happens if you do not achieve your goal. Before you answer these questions, we must first explore how know what is it that you really want to succeed at?

The first step is becoming clear about what "it" is. Do you want to make more money, write a book, go back to school..the possibilities are endless.

Whatever you seek to achieve, sacrifices will inevitably arise. Everytime you uplevel, another challenge will require your attention and action.

You must be prepared to leave others behind, not have people understand your drive, and most importantly- hold the vision.

How bad do you want it will determine the path you take- but remember- you have to decide before you can begin. Not only must you want to do something, you must take action.

High performer action steps:

  • Identify people you can hang out who already do what you want
  • Pay attention to habits of successful individuals
  • Decide and commit to making a difference

Differences between a dirty house and a messy house

Differences between a Dirty House and a Messy House

At one point or another, we have said either that our homes are messy, not dirty, or have heard someone else say it.
Not only do we not believe our words, but also when someone else says it, we have to look around to confirm that this is not the case. Cleanliness requires you to consider how everything in the house looks.
If the home is messy, it means that it is already dirty. When you do not have time to pick your mess, it implies that you do not have time to clean the mess as well.
If you are a mum, you know that most of the time you spend the time allocated to cleaning duties just picking stuff up and placing it in their right places. In some cases, you do not even get to do the actual cleaning.
In one day, there is not enough time to do everything that you would like to accomplish. Therefore, if saying the house is messy and not dirty makes you feel better, you should go ahead and do so, but remember that this will not do any good to your family health.
Dirt not only looks bad, but it is also bad for you and your family. It is more than a simple film that clouds the furniture, as it is also a breeding ground for harmful particles and allergens.
If you are not able to get them, it means that you are exposing your family to harmful particles, which could end up making them sick.
Filth is not only hideous; it could also lead to many other things...
It is important to understand that dirt is not only an inconvenience; it can also end up severely affecting the health of your loved ones.
The dust has the potential to produce symptoms that you did not know existed. The allergens can:
  • Decrease the functioning of your immune system
  • Cause inflammation of the lung and nasal passages
  • Be an underlying cause for skin conditions like Psoriasis
  • Increase the chances of getting an asthmatic response in young kids
Getting exposed to allergens for a long time will be capable of wreaking havoc on your immune system, and the worst part about is that you will not know that this is happening.

Therefore, the next time you start insisting that the house is just messy and not dirty, consider all the areas that are hidden under this mess and start cleaning the home. It will be the best way to protect your family.

Interesting Facts about Millennials

Interesting Facts about Millennials

Currently, Millennials make up the largest workforce in the world, and understanding their driving force will make it easier for you to engage them at the workplace.

Apart from being the largest workforce, they are soon expected to make up the largest consumer base.
Understanding and being in a position to engage with this generation will determine the success of your business.
Below are interesting facts about the Millennials, which will make it easier for you to identify with them:
  • In the United States alone, the Millennials have a combined student debt of close to one trillion dollars
  • When it comes to job factors, pay ranks first for the members of this group. Meaningful work ranks second, while positive relationships in the workplace and flexibility take third and fourth positions respectively.
  • Thirty-seven percent of the Millennials will usually leave their first job within a period of two years
  • Among the group that has left their first job, twenty-six percent are of the opinion that a better salary would have ensured they stayed a bit longer, while seventeen percent were willing to stay, provided they got a clearer sense of the direction that was being taken by the organization.
  • Sixty-four percent of the Millennials are willing to work in jobs that only pay them forty thousand dollars a year, if they love these jobs, rather than being stuck at positions that pay one hundred thousand dollars a year, but which they consider being boring
  • When asked about blogging about workplace-related issues, forty percent of the Millennials believe that it is all right to do this, as compared to twenty-eight percent of the baby boomers generation.
  • Studies had shown that Millennials stay in their first jobs longer than Gen x workers did when they were in the same age groups: most Gen X workers stayed with their employers for only one year before moving on to other companies.
  • When queried about their ideal employers, most Millennial listed Apple, the US State Department, Facebook, and Disney World as their preferred employers.
  • Seventy-five percent of Millennials see themselves as being authentic and are therefore not willing to compromise their personal values as well as those of their families.
  • Around sixty-three percent of all Millennial workers possess a bachelor’s degree, but of this group, only forty-eight percent of the employed graduates have jobs that require them to have a four-year degree.
The facts listed above can help help us be more effective when working with Millennials. It will help us better understand the Millennials, and provide them with a healthy working environment.

Grant Writers?

Dear Grant Writers,

I want some money to take all of the homeless people here in America. With this money I will be able to pay them minimum wage. I will have them employed for aspiring entrepreneurs.
(only available to entrepreneurs who have lasted longer than 18months minimum. Only because 80% of them don't last after 18 months)

We've given time an money to our Gay Communities
We've given time and money to our Fight Cancer Communities
We've given time and money to HIV/AIDS Communities
We're is the time and money to Homelessness in America?

How about by approving this money so that we can allocate the necessary money to get this in action?

As you can see I'm not that great of a writer and refuse to pay a grant writer. To be honest I fear grant writers because most of them these days say they can do a lot but they never ever do.
Again. This is not a fact. It's just my opinion. Either way I'm just explaining why you should look past the unprofessionalness of this letter. I had no choice

Last thing
The majority of our homeless communities around the USA are really really really good people. In fact I've done a documentary on homelessness in America that was put on YouTube a few years back and nobody watched it. Just for the record they don't watch most of my YouTube videos not just the one on homelessness in America. That was a joke. Your prolly not laughing.
Well anyway, if you would like to see it just ask and I will send to you.

Thank you for consideration

The Power of Asking For Help In Business

The Power of Asking For Help in Business
In business, things can get out of hand to an extent of needing help from others. Some investors think by talking to others about their hiccups they are showing weaknesses. That’s backward thinking. It is much better to ask and look silly for a minute than remain one for a lifetime. The truth of the matter is that when your business is new, launching a new product, expanding or need to increase your customers’ base, you cannot do it alone.
They are;
•    Business Growth
There comes a time when businesses struggle expanding. The best decision an investor in such a situation can make is reach out to experts, other entrepreneurs, mentors, and friends for help. You may be surprised by the kind of new ideas you get from them. You could be going wrong somewhere in terms of your marketing strategy, products quality, pricing or simply need more finances to expand. Investors who incorporate great ideas from others live to give testimonials on how much difference asking for help made for their businesses.
•    Better networking
Running a business requires good networking with others. You cannot manage to operate a successful business all by yourself whether you like it or not. For instance, you need suppliers, consultants, financial institutions and customers. By asking for help from such people you are expanding your network which will help you succeed. For instance, you may need supplies yet you do not have the cash yet ask your supplier for help and pay later.
•    Increased productivity
Consider taking the initiative to ask for help to take your business to the next level. By talking to others you will likely feel rejuvenated after listening to their ideas. When you listen to each opinion with an open mind and put everything into consideration you stand to gain a lot. It will help you approach your business from different angles leading to more productivity.
•    Team building
In every company or business team building is the key to increased productivity. The power of asking for help is evident in boosting teamwork in one way or the other. You could be good in one thing while your colleague in a different one. Seeking each other’s opinions will improve your working relationship leading to a stronger team.
•    Brand awareness
Running a brand new business has its own ups and downs. There is no single business that is without its unique challenges. Reaching out to other well-established entrepreneurs can boost your brand promotion. It’s an effective way of letting others find out about your products

As a business owner never hesitate to ask others for help. In business, you need to correlate and share ideas with others. The sooner you ask someone to help you solve your problem the better for your business.

10 Benefits of Network Marketing

10 Benefits of Network Marketing

Network marketing involves doing business where a sales team earns a commission on any sales of services and goods and also a commission on sales made by people they recruit to the business. This creates a down line for the distributors and a hierarchy of multiple levels of reimbursements. So what are the benefits that come with network marketing? Here are some benefits of network marketing.
  • One has their own business.
With network marketing, you can set up your own business. There are no expenses required for rent, payroll or even overheads for the business. These hustles have been eliminated for you.
  • Has low cost of start up
Today, you can get into most network marketing companies with very little cash for the startup as compared to the costs one would need to have when setting up a business. Network marketing relieves you of the stress of borrowing large sums of money to start your business.
  • The ability to work anywhere.
Network marketing is flexible and portable. This is because it does not limit you on where you should work from. One is given the freedom to choose where they want to work from.
  • Job security
Today, most employed people live in fear of losing their jobs at one point in their career. With network marketing, you do not have to worry anymore. You are assured of stability in your job.
  • Work with your own schedules
Network marketing allows you to work in accordance with your schedules. This is very appealing and convenient for you.
  • Support and training are readily available
Training will be at your fingertips since network marketing is a system that involves very many independent distributors. This system is very easy to buy into and is also very easy to teach and duplicate. This simply means that you as an individual are in business for you, but not by yourself.
  • Tax benefits
We all want to save extra cash .Your tax benefits and savings are very great when you work at home with network marketing as compared to cost you incur in starting your business.
  • Develops friendships
The friendships you develop through network marketing are very different from those you make at your workplace. This is because these friends are based on common objectives, mindset, beliefs, goals, encouragements among other things.
  • There is no gender discrimination
All people are on a level field in network marketing and have the same opportunity when it comes thriving, succeeding and excelling. It does not matter whether you are a man or woman.
  • There are no corporate ladders
There are limited positions when people try climbing the corporate ladder. Network marketing will allow all the people to succeed equally as it has no limits on the number of people to be promoted.
Network marketing benefits are endless. The above are just some of the benefits that one gets from network marketing.

I hope you found this article to be helpful. If so please share with your friends.

6 Differences between High Performers and Low Performers

6 Differences between High Performers and Low Performers

In business or workplaces, there are employees who perform incredibly well while others are average or poor performers. The workforce is the backbone of every business. Things become messed up when you are surrounded by low performers since success is as a result of high performance from employees.
What’s the difference between high and low performers?
  • Performance
High performers are very competent. They are always willing to do everything to become productive. They respond well to change to enhance their productivity. Working overtime is never a problem with such people. High performers work extra hard to an extent of trying to help others perform better. On the other hand, low performers are known to be unwilling to work beyond their working hours. They resist change at the workplace; hardly help others to increase their neither output nor work hard to benefit the company. In general, high performers produce more output than low performers.
  • Time management
How you manage your time is very important. A lot depends on your time management skills. A high performer is always conscious of their time. They are always working towards delivering their projects right on time and will work overtime to beat deadlines. Low performers tend to postpone a lot and waste their time on unproductive things.
  • Goals
High-performing employees have set goals that they target to accomplish. They are well organized and focused on achieving them. On the contrary, low performers have a reputation for being disorganized and hardly set clear goals. They achieve nothing much as a result of chasing vague goals.it takes a proper organization to achieve greatness.
  • Motivation
High performers are always motivated by something. They are pleasant to work with due to their energetic traits, unlike low performers who are always dull at work. High performing individuals do not give up on their goals and they will always find a reason to keep going while low performers give up at the slightest sign of a challenge. Every employer dreams of working with workers who have self-motivation and not those who need constant motivation to deliver.
  • Attitude
Low performers have a reputation for blaming others for their failures. They never take responsibility for anything and find numerous excuses to point fingers. High performers, on the other hand, approach things with a positive attitude. When things don’t work out as expected they are quick to take responsibility and learn from their mistakes.
  • Focus
High performers focus on improving their productivity. Consequently, they are never distracted easily by other things. Such people work towards adding value to their organizations and their lives. Low performers waste so much time on distractions such as social media, gossiping among others which affect their work quality.
Conclusion

Success comes to those who are persistent and resilient in everything they focus on doing. Are you a high or low performer? Be honest with yourself and take action for a better future.

List of reasons why everybody loves working from home

List of reasons why everybody loves working from home
Working from home has become increasingly viable for most people today who thought that it was just a dream. Most employees view this as a good opportunity for them to remain in the workforce regardless of the geographical location. They continue being members of the organization thus maintaining all the benefits while they also enjoy all benefits that come with working at home. Below are some 4 reasons why everybody loves working from home.
  • Fewer distractions at home.
Distractions are normally brought about by your coworkers in the office. Some of the distractions include idle chatting, unimportant meetings and other unnecessary interruptions. All this can be avoided by just barricading yourself in your very own environment away from all possible distractions.
  • Flexibility
When working from home, you get to choose the working hours. It also enables one to have flexibility in determining your working environment, lighting and temperatures, setting and the mood that will best suit you. Being content with the environment leads to high productivity in your work. One can also create their own work schedule in accordance with the time that will suit you better. You can include ten-minute breaks from your work from which you will come back feeling more revitalized.
  • You have better health
Long commutes with long hours moving to and from your workplace will have adverse impacts on both your mental and physical health. This means that you will have to do away with activities such as gym hours and this will negatively impact your physical health. Stress brought about by the long commute and your workplace will have an impact on your mental health. Working at home will ensure that you save traveling during which you can resume physical exercises by visiting the gym or going for long walks.
  • Saves you money
Working at home will save you a lot of hidden costs that are associated with going to work every day. These include traveling cost, fuel cost for your car, wear and tear of the car, parking cost and road taxes. Some other indirect costs include professional wardrobes which are expensive for your office and the dry cleaning costs of these garments. One also saves on food costs as you can simply prepare a meal at lunch at home.

These are some of the reasons why most people today love working at home as compared to an office setting. You should remember that if you choose to work at home, you should be highly disciplined and dedicated to your work.

What Makes You Happy?

Different people will undoubtedly give varied opinions as far as the above question is concerned. Many will say that their well-paying jobs give them happiness. Other will cite meaningful and fulfilling life as source of their true happiness.

Amazingly, there some who will have very specific response to the above query. In fact, with the recent technological advances, there are some happiness tracking apps.
All in all, with personal opinions on what makes one happy notwithstanding, there are some factors known to bring happiness to many worldwide.
For instance; Meaningful work.
People who have jobs that make them feel a sense purpose and fulfilled coupled with good salaries often draw their happiness from such kind of work.

Well, having a circle of trusted friends and the warmth of belonging to a family will surely make you happy.
Laughter is a common characteristic of happiness but it’s not always the case. The two may be confused. But happiness is not just the outward smile and laughter it goes beyond that, it is something deeper that connects closely with our inner feelings. So, do you know when you are happy or know what makes you happy?
Personally, having the peace of mind and body health keeps me happy, that is of course plus other activities with friends and family. A stress free life is what makes most of us happy. You can always find out what makes you happy by doing a small analysis on yourself. For instance
  • Finding out and identifying exactly what has made you happy at that moment when you have that feeling of happiness
  • Identifying things that annoy and make you unhappy still during that time when you are annoyed or unhappy
  • Identifying the things that you love doing because there a is a great connection between happiness and the things we love doing or simply love
  • Make a connection with your feelings through meditation , it’s healthy and helpful too
  • Reach out to a therapist or psychologist when you find it difficult, they can help you through it.
We may relate our happiness to materialistic acquisitions. This is when we let material stuff such as money, new car among other things, determine our happiness. However, material things rarely determine long term happiness. I’m sure you don’t want something that comes and fades away so quickly do you?

These few and simple steps can significantly help you realize what makes you happy. But remember, the process of discovering what makes us happy is a journey and you need not to rush over it .Take your time.

Major Key Alert:
If things have to happen for you to be happy. You are not happy

My Review on Should Leaders Focus on Results or People Article

It all started in elementary school. My parents, my teachers, my neighbors, my basketball coaches, my aunts, my uncles, as a kid it seemed like everybody asked me the same question.

Are you a leader or a follower?

So I am reading a few leadership articles online about leadership and figured I give my personal take on the one that I found to be most interesting by dissecting the article and its key points.  Here is the article http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-travis-bradberry/should-leaders-focus-on-r_b_9752950.html. Huffington Post titled this article should leaders focus on results or people?  So, what is leadership?

After James Zenger surveyed over 60,000 employees to see which leadership characteristics made leaders “great” in the eyes of their employees. This is what he learned.
Leaders who primarily focused on results were seen as great just 14% of the time, and leaders who primarily focused on people were seen as great only 12% of the time.

If you aspire to be an advanced leader pay close attention.  Advanced leadership is more than just a title that can be earned.  Advanced leadership is more than the few people that always tell you that you are such a great leader.  Leadership is all about actions, behaviors, and discipline.  My purpose of writing this is to challenge your previous thoughts about leadership.  I wonder how many types of leadership styles are you currently aware of?

The Article Says:
They deliver feedback flawlessly. It takes a tactful leader to deliver feedback that is accurate and objective but also considerate and inspirational. Leaders who are balanced know how to take into account the feelings and perspectives of their employees while still delivering the message they need to hear in order to improve.

High Performance Coaching Says:
One of our top coaches Billionaire Brown is on the record saying countless times of one on one feedback he once received by Les Brown the #1 motivational speaker in the world.  The same guy who put the foreword on his first published book titled Silver Dollar Ebook.

Les Brown asked him how many followers does he have?
Billionaire Brown answered.
Les Brown asked him how many people hop on his weekly calls? Billionaire Brown answered.
Les Brown asked him how many of those people are cutting him a check?
Billionaire Brown almost cried.

Can you imagine looking up to someone of that caliber and answering all of their questions with the hopes that they will be proud of your progress and instead they aren't proud at all.  Think for a moment.  Lets assume at the job you currently have that on a scale from 0 to 10 you feel that your performance at work is a 10.  Your boss asks you to come inside his office and he tells you that your performance at work is less than average.  I think we can all agree that not everyone on the receiving end of this performance feedback will take it like a champion.  One group of people will be offended by the performance feedback and may fly off the handle cursing out their boss.  The second group of people are like our now elite coach Billionaire Brown and will take that performance feedback and utilize it as a reason to ascend to the next level.  Advanced leaders know exactly what to say to who most of the time.  Billionaire Brown is 100% positive that Les Brown wouldn't say those same things to someone who couldn't handle it and use it for good. So remember as a leader to know who you are leading on a deeper level than a list of names you are leading.

The Article Says:
They put the right team of people together to execute a plan.

High Performance Coaching Says:

Executing as an individual is good. But it doesn't lead to greatness. Executing as a team is where greatness happens.  When I think about putting the right team of people together I think of sports.  Lets take the Chicago Bulls in the 90's. When most people think of the Chicago Bulls who won 6 championships we often think of Michael Jordan.  Until the advanced leaders step into the discussion.  Let me explain. Advanced leaders pay attention to the details behind a effective team.  The truth behind the legacy of the 90's Chicago Bulls is their role players were in sync with the stars on the team Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.  Forty Eight minutes in a professional basketball game.  I challenge you to ask ten aspiring young athletes in high school this question.  Would you rather have a guaranteed spot in the NBA only playing a maximum of four minutes a game for twelve years or would you rather take your chances going to college with a chance of being a superstar in the NBA one day?  I think we can all agree that most athletes would choose the route of taking their chances to be a superstar.  However  the Chicago Bulls was a well put together team filled with athletes that bought into the idea of winning and did whatever they're job was. Nothing more and nothing less.  I give Chicago Bulls 90's teams credit to management, coaching, and leadership of Michael Jordan.  Just because your team is talented doesn't guarantee success. But, if you put a talented team together that has a purpose of executing one plan you have something special.

It annoys me to no end when someone says "I will be the bigger person".  Your probably asking why does that annoy me so much?  Call me petty however all the really big people that I have come across don't announce their act of being the bigger person before they do something big.  They just do it.  The same goes when two people are arguing and one person says to the other: I am going to take the higher road.  Why the announcement?  If you take anything from this article take this.  If you are a leader you don't have to make an announcement. Just do it.  I promise you that your leadership actions will be noticed by many without them knowing if you are a leader or not.  If you enjoyed this blog and have been looking for a good book on leadership I recommend 360 Degree Leader written by John C Maxwell.

Review of Public speaking champion giving speech tips

I probably shouldn't be telling you this however it's true and I'm at that point in my life. I'm very aware of Dananjaya Hettiarachchi and his many accomplishments. I have even watched his winning speech at the 2014 Toastmasters International championship. He definitely delivered a powerful message that only felt right watching it roughly seven times.  Back to back... All that said, in my opinion he's just not someone that I wanted to study. I will go more into detail a little bit later.  Let's begin

#1
Have a concise message
The audience should be able to remember and recall it.

My newly released audio program, I speak in short about these same key points BUTTT it took me about five minutes to get my point across. Yes the people love it. Yes it's great to listen to on the way back and forth to work. All I'm saying is that Dananjaya said exactly what myself and some of my other high performance peers may say in less than 45 seconds. Remember. No compromise on content. Same content in less time. Did you also notice that he doesn't speak fast? Man. Seemed like a concise message to me. In fact it was so concise that I remember every word of his presentation. He said a whole bunch of blah, blah, blah, and then said "You should be able to write your message in 10 words or less" So simple, direct, and practical. In my new audio program for aspiring speakers I like to call these 10 words, bullet points.

#2
Have an attention grabbing opening

Let me give you a few examples of attention grabbers I use like: let me ask you a simple question, believe it or not, it's a fact of life that, today more than ever, etc
Dananjaya really drives home point number two. Again in short. Again great content.  Which leads us right to one of his sub categories which is how low our attention spans are.  Speakers know this and forget during the presentation. Effective speakers know this and remember this during the presentation. I like when Dananjaya quotes  "It is now the responsibility of the speaker to hold the audiences attention" The days of having a bad audience are over. Although this article  is for advanced public speakers, amateurs should also see this as a very practical thing to remember throughout this career.

If your audience is not paying attention to your presentation, then it's your fault.

If your audience doesn't laugh at a joke you delivered during your presentation, then it's your fault.

#3. End the speech in a high

#3 was my favorite of the three tips.  Again how does Dananjaya say so much in such little time? I've never had the challenge of starting high and finishing on a low personally, however countless times I have started low and finished on a high.  Point taken.

In closing, here's something to think about. Have you ever watched a great movie and for some odd reason you can't bring yourself to watching the movie again. Ever. Prior to this three minute video http://www.businessinsider.com/public-speaking-champion-reveals-keys-great-speech-dananjaya-hettiarachchi-2016-5 I felt that way about Dananjaya. Would love to know what Dananjaya would think about this article I wrote about him. Would he appreciate how he just gained another fan or would he be so offended that he offers me a shot on his upcoming tour to explain this in detail around the world.  I believe we all have a right to change our opinions on each other. Some say that's what life is.
What do you do when you believe that a talented person is talented but just not interesting enough for you to pay attention to? In this case if it wasn't for businessinsider.com highlighting an elite speaker named Dananjaya I would have never saw this video which ultimately shifted my whole opinion of him.  Remember prior to logging into business insider I really didn't connect with this speaker at all.

The moral of the story is that if you don't stop, your haters can eventually turn into one of your biggest fans.  So, if you are reading this right now and decide to not pay attention to me, thats okay.  In the near future you may be skimming through a forbes magazine and see me highlighted in a issue and say " I know that guy, and hated this article he wrote about Dananjaya Hettiarachchi BUTTTT now that I am seeing him in this Forbes magazine I love him beyond measure".

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

When I was a kid I wanted to be a boxer
When I was a kid I wanted to be a police officer
When I was a kid I wanted to be a professional football player
When I was a kid I wanted to be a doctor
When I was a kid I wanted to have the same job as Eddie Murphy in the movie Boomerang
When I was a kid I wanted to be a ghostbuster
When I was a kid I wanted to be a movie star
When I was a kid I wanted to be a school teacher
When I was a kid I wanted to be a physical education teacher
When I was a kid I wanted to be a singer
When I was a kid I wanted to be a super hero

The older I got the more people told me delete things off my list one by one.  Even worst, when I entered higher education they told me to pick a profession that was most lucrative.  Translation: Study a career that makes a lot of money. Needless to say I was lost, confused, and misdirected.

I'm not the type of guy who is driven by money.  I am driven by being happy.

Now that you know what I wanted to be when I was a kid let me take a moment and tell you what I want to be as a 35 year old young man.  I want to be an example.  The profession I have committed to is a "Communicator".  And the job I signed up for is to commercialize the personal development industry.
